1. variable: A letter or symbol that represents a number in an algebraic equation
2. equation: A mathematical sentence with an equals sign
3. function: A rule that gives exactly one value of y for every one value of x
4. ordered pair: A pair of numbers in which one number is considered to be first and the other number second
5. inverse operation: Operations that have opposite effects. For example, subtraction is the inverse operation of addition.
